This is the third attempt at a television series based on The Last Supper (1999)
Tale
After a dark scene at an elite academy, sisters Caroline and Lucien set out to maintain their power and reputation by seducing the daughter of the Vice President of the United States. The direct-to-video sequel, The Last Supper 2 (2000), with Amy Adams replacing Sarah Michelle Gellar as Kathryn Merteuil, was originally a scripted television series before being re-edited as a feature film.
It follows The Last Supper (1999)
Gellar later reprised her role as Kathryn in the 2016 NBC pilot Cruel Intentions (2016), which was not ordered to series. This show is actually very well written and very accurate to what college campuses are like now.
The stories are compelling
As for the lack of representation on college campuses and how whitewashed it is, it’s because they show exactly what these elitist sororities and fraternities really are. The sarcasm and humor are great in every character.
And I really enjoyed the character development, if they had tried to just rip off 1999’s Cruel Intentions it would have been very unoriginal and this version does a good job of creating a completely different story
The people who are trash talking clearly wanted a true take on the cult classic, but this show is in no way trying to be an iconic movie, it takes inspiration from every OG character and creates a modern take on the archetypes in a college campus setting. Incredibly entertaining.
I love it and hope there’s a second season
And the modern day cece is amazing, she’s lovingly manic. Caroline’s character isn’t as messed up or unconventional, but she’s still the iconic song she was in the movie, and she actually has a backstory, and I’m here for it.
